Judy Rethwisch

 

Judy has been involved in the Performing Arts for over forty-three years.  She is currently the Fine Arts Coordinator for the Affton School districtand currently teaches Theater Arts at Affton High School. Affton High School honored Judy recently by naming their auditorium after her.  She has held State & National offices in the American Alliance for Theater Education and Mo. State Thespian.

Harry Irwin

Many years of experience in the retail music business, currently, owner of Classic Keyboards of St. Louis.   Formerly general manager of the 11store chain of Ludwig Aeolian music stores in the St. Louis area.  Former president of Irwin Music Stores.

 

 

Executive Director

 

Cheryl Jett  

Cheryl enjoys working with small and/or emerging organizations whose focus is the arts or history.  She comes from a family of musicians, has been involved in the arts all her life, and spent many years as a music teacher.  Cheryl holds a B.A. and an M.A in American History, with a minor in Art. She served as the Executive Director of Cahokia Mounds Museum Society at Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site for several years and also served as Secretary-Treasurer on the board of directors of the Illinois Chapter of the Trail of Tears Association for four years. She was a 2007 recipient of a Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation grant for research on Native American women’s activities during World War II; currently, she is working on a book based on that research.  Her first book, Alton, a history of the river city of Alton, Illinois, will be published in spring 2009.

Music Chair

 

 

Dr. Frances Irwin

Fran earned her music education degree from Duquesne University with applied music studies in voice and organ.  She was a member of the Duquesne University Tamburitzans performing concerts of Balkan music in the United States and Europe.  She earned her Master and Doctorate of Music Education from Washington University in St. Louis and taught public school music for 31 years.  She became a nationally certified music educator (MENC), and has received the Emerson Electric Excellence in Teaching Award.  Fran has given presentations on Balkan music at the local, national and international levels.   After retiring she became executive director of the United Nations Association of St. Louis for several years.  She is listed in various volumes of biographical references such as Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who Among American Women, and International Leaders of Achievement

She continues to be a freelance musician in St. Louis.  She and her husband Harry sing in the St. Louis Cathedral Basilica Choir and are both on the Metro South Arts Council.  They are the parents of five adult children. 

 

 

 

 

Visual Arts Chair

 

 

Patti Mudd

Patti has been involved in the Arts for many years.  She received her undergraduate BFA degrees in Theatre and Studio Art.  She began working professionally in Theatre working for Theme Parks such as World’s of Fun, and Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, VA. Locally she has worked for Stages St. Louis, Muny Student Theatre, TNT, etc.  She also roamed the country working for various theatre companies and found her niche in Children’s Theatre with Living Arts for Students in Knoxville, TN.  Inspired by the children she encountered, Ms Mudd returned to school to receive her education certification and Masters of education.  Currently she is the Chairperson for the Bayless High School Fine Arts Department, where she also teaches visual art and theatre production design.  Her goal is to inspire children through the arts and help make art accessible to everyone! As a member of the Metro South Arts Council, she hopes to achieve these goals in the Metro South area of St. Louis.

Julie Norton 

Julie teaches Elementary Art at the Bayless Elementary School.  She also a faculty advisor and instructor for an after-school Drama Club sponsored by the Metro South Arts Council.

Michael Ackermann

Mike has been involved with theater since 1969 He has worked every position in theater but his main devotion is to the tech side.  Mike is currently on the board of directors for Affton CenterStage Theater Company as their Technical Director. Mike is also a teacher assistant for Judy at Affton High School theater department.  Ah Community Theater where you can do a lot or a little, but you meet wonderful people and develop good and great friendships

Jim Meady

Jim has been involved with community theater for over thirty years, both in Massachusetts and Missouri.  He has worked in all areas, both on stage and behind the scenes (director, designer, stage manager, producer, etc.)  He has also served on several Boards, both as Chairman and Treasurer.  He is currently Production Manager and a Board member of The First Run Theatre Company, the only theater group in St. Louis dedicated solely to presenting premier full-stage productions of plays by St. Louis area playwrights
