JoAnn Sestric Raisch, Chairperson
JoAnn is currently retired, but still very
active. She is a former business owner
and elected official, and has held various offices in community and school
organizations. JoAnn was a co-founder
of Affton Community Theater (ACT), the predecessor of Affton CenterStage
Theatre and now serves as their Publicity Chair
Harry Irwin, Vice Chairperson
Many years of experience in the
retail music business, currently, owner of Classic Keyboards of St. Louis. Formerly general manager of the
11store chain of Ludwig Aeolian music stores in the St. Louis area,. former
president of Irwin Music Stores.

Cheryl Jett, Executive Director
Cheryl enjoys working with small and/or emerging organizations whose
focus is the arts or history. She
comes from a family of musicians, has been involved in the arts all her life,
and spent many years as a music teacher.
Cheryl holds a B.A. and an M.A in American History, with a minor in
Art. She served as the Executive Director of Cahokia Mounds Museum Society at
Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site for several years and also served as
Secretary-Treasurer on the board of directors of the Illinois Chapter of the
Trail of Tears Association for four years. She was a 2007 recipient of a
Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation grant for research on Native American women’s
activities during World War II; currently, she is working on a book based on
that research. Her first book, Alton, a history of the river city of Alton, Illinois, will be
published in spring 2009.
Judy Rethwisch, Artistic Director
Judy has been involved in the Performing
Arts for over forty-three years. She
is currently the Fine Arts Coordinator for the Affton School districtand currently teaches Theater Arts at Affton High School. Affton High School honored Judy recently by naming their auditorium
after her. She has held State &
National offices in the American Alliance for Theater Education and Mo. State Thespian.
Dr.
FRANCES M. IRWIN
Fran earned her
music education degree from Duquesne University with applied
music studies in voice and organ. She
was a member of the Duquesne University Tamburitzans performing concerts of
Balkan music in the United States and Europe. She earned her Master and Doctorate of
Music Education from Washington University in St. Louis and taught public
school music for 31 years. She became
a nationally certified music educator (MENC), and has received the Emerson
Electric Excellence in Teaching Award.
Fran has given presentations on Balkan music at the local, national
and international levels. After
retiring she became executive director of the United Nations Association of
St. Louis for several years. She is
listed in various volumes of biographical references such as Who’s Who in
American Education, Who’s Who Among American Women, and International
Leaders of Achievement
She continues to
be a freelance musician in St. Louis. She and her husband Harry sing in the St.
Louis Cathedral Basilica Choir and are both on the Metro South Arts
Council. They are the parents of five
adult children.
Dr. Aurelia Hartenberger, Secretary
Aurelia is currently
Associate Professor of Music at the University of Missouri – St. Louis, and Music
Coordinator for the Lindbergh School District. Formerly
she served as Curriculum Director of the Mehlville School District from 1990-2006,
and was Instrumental Director and World Music Specialist at Maryville University, St. Louis, Missouri from
1990-2006.
Dr. Hartenberger is a member of AMIS (American Musical
Instrument Society), the National Association of Professional Women, and the
Galpin Society of Great Britain. She has
also served as Southwest Division President (AK, CO, KS, MO, NM, OK, & TX), of the 200,000 member MENC: The National
Association for Music Education, 2003-2005; President of MMEA (Missouri Music
Educators Association), 2000-2002; and President of SLSMEA (St. Louis
Suburban Music Educators Assoc.), 1992-1998.
In the field of education, Dr. Hartenberger has been cited five
times as “Teacher of the Year” at the local, district, and state
levels. She is the creator of the web-based “Curriculum SUCCESS Tool”
for Aureus Concepts, and is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
In the field of research, Dr. Hartenberger’s most recent research
work has been published in the Symposium
Proceedings of the 2007 Symposium on Assessment in Music Education
– “Connecting Standards to Assessment through Core Conceptual Competencies,”
March, 2007, GIA Publications and she is cited in The Music and Literacy Connection,
2003. Dr. Hartenberger has also been published in many educational
journals throughout the United States and has presented
clinics and workshops on Neuroscience Research and Learning in ten states.
Patti Mudd – Visual Arts Chair
Patti has been involved in the Arts for
many years. She received her
undergraduate BFA degrees in Theatre and Studio Art. She began working professionally in Theatre
working for Theme Parks such as World’s of Fun, and Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, VA. Locally she has
worked for Stages St. Louis, Muny Student
Theatre, TNT, etc. She also roamed the
country working for various theatre companies and found her niche in
Children’s Theatre with Living Arts for Students in Knoxville, TN. Inspired by the children she encountered,
Ms Mudd returned to school to receive her education certification and Masters
of education. Currently she is the
Chairperson for the Bayless High School Fine Arts Department, where she also
teaches visual art and theatre production design. Her goal is to inspire children through the
arts and help make art accessible to everyone! As a member of the Metro South
Arts Council, she hopes to achieve these goals in the Metro South area of St. Louis.
Jim Meady –Web Site Developer
Jim has been involved with community
theater for over thirty years, both in Massachusetts and Missouri. He has worked in all areas, both on stage
and behind the scenes (director, designer, stage manager, producer,
etc.) He has also served on several
Boards, both as Chairman and Treasurer.
He is currently Production Manager and a Board member of The First Run
Theatre Company, the only theater group in St. Louis dedicated solely
to presenting premier full-stage productions of plays by St. Louis area playwrights
Dr. Sandra Mims
Sandra Mims is an artist and educator
with the Mehlville School
District. She holds a
Ph.D in art education from Florida State University and has published numerous articles in professional magazines
about how people learn in art. She is also the proprietor of Chez Suzette
Antiques at the South County Antique Mall.
Julie Norton, Director – Arts Program
Julie teaches Elementary Art at the Bayless Elementary
School.
She also a faculty advisor and instructor for an after-school Drama
Club sponsored by the Metro South Arts Council.
Debbie Terra Waltman --
Deborah is a graduate of Webster University. Her degree is in Fine Arts with a focus on arts education.
Deborah has taught art programs for both children and adults, in public
school and in adult enrichment classes. She is the owner of Terra Art &
Frame (13 years) and Terra Decorating Services (3 years). Deborah is
currently leading study groups based on the book "The Artist's Way"
by Julia Cameron.
Lisa Doerge Coates
Lisa has been active in performance
art for most of her life.
She studied theater performance at
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and, later, television production
at Columbia College Chicago. She was
nominated for an Emmy in 2004 for her role in the Chicago-area cable program
"Out on a Limb."
Lisa also worked as a casting
director for numerous television program and feature films in Los Angeles.
She is currently pursuing a
Master's Degree in education from Webster University and is actively involved with Affton Center Stage Theatre,
where she directs children's theater.
Michael Ackermann – Web Site Manager--
Mike has been involved with theater since
1969 He has worked every position in theater but his main devotion is to the
tech side. Mike is currently on the
board of directors for Affton CenterStage Theater Company as their Technical
Director. Mike is also a teacher assistant for Judy at Affton High School theater
department. Ah Community Theater where
you can do a lot or a little, but you meet wonderful people and develop good
and great friendships
